Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
ASK AGAIN LATER tells the prom night story of Heart LaCoeur (and yes, Heart hates her name). Heart flips a coin to decide who to go to prom with -- Troy the jock, or Ryan the theater geek. The book then weaves together both timelines, following Heart through prom and the after-party as she deals with her date(s) and figures out who she really should've gone to prom with.
I loved the interwoven timelines (although sometimes it was hard to keep straight what had happened in each), and the author does a great job keeping the timelines from being redundant. This book has some laugh-out-loud moments (just wait 'til you find out what's in that prom-night goodie bag Heart's aunt made for her), but it also touches on some more serious aspects of Heart's life, particularly her relationship with her brother and how she's structured her life to avoid becoming anything like her absent mother.
This book is a mostly fun, light read with a satisfying ending. Publication date is March 11, 2014.
